MASTHEAD: DESIGN WITH MAIN CONCEPT

MASTHEAD DESIGN USING ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR 

I decided to create a Masthead using the concept of  a red rectangle with bold writing. Firstly I used the font Myriad Pro which is a bold font which doesn't contain any serifs. Prefer this font as it links to the hip hop genre of bold. I wanted to keep the basic idea however I wanted to play around with the height and width of the font. 

The first design I created was the title "TRILLA" with the "R" rotated on the angle 260 degrees. Personally I don't like it as it makes the design look busy and may become difficult to read. Secondly I also didn't want to ruin the alignment of each letter which would make the work look messy.

The second design I created was by reflecting the letter R in TRILLA. This looked aesthetically good however it had similarities to a number plate which may be hard for the audience to read which might make it difficult to pronounce the name of the magazine.

The third design I created was a simplistic version of the previous two. The design contains a red rectangle with a black shadow behind the white font. I prefer this design due to the simple however bold look.
